The Week’s Schedule
Today you will get an introduction to everything; in the morning are workshops on the basics of acting-for-camera and scriptwriting, when we’ll introduce the short film script you are going to make.
In the afternoon it’s the first of two workshops on editing and all the camera equipment.
The morning is a further acting-for-camera and script workshop, when we’ll divide you into cast and crew, plus more in-depth work on the cameras.
Tuesday afternoon is when we’ll cast the short film, and the crew will breakdown and schedule the script.
The second and last editing workshop also takes place.
An all day short film shoot. You have just 5 hours to get the majority filmed.
The pressure is on to wrap the film, and you must finish filming by lunch time.
So, now we’ve shown you how a film is written and made, and you’ve had a good practice at making one.
This afternoon you will divide into smaller groups, when you will create a one to two page script of your own. You have just two and a half hours to write, cast and rehearse.
Put all that knowledge into practice; we give you just 30 minutes to shoot your film, but there’s a catch; you are not allowed any editing, so you must shoot in sequence.
In the afternoon you will participate in masterclasses.
We finish with our end of week screening and presentation, which your parents are invited to attend at 4pm.
The Film Academy Edinburgh has hired and will run all courses in the professionally equipped spaces in the Cre:8 building of Edinburgh College’s Milton Road campus.
